In areas with harsh climactic conditions the lath or the cedar breather must be underside by foam or a rigid insulator. Be sure to install them with this side facing outward. Attach the shingles with 1 inch roofing nails. When you come to the last space in a row use a utility knife to cut a shingle to fit into it.
