Cleaning Washing Machine Door Seal

There is a simple method to clean washing machine door seals that will have your seal sparkling like new again in no time.

You should also clean the outside of the washer door after you remove mold from rubber seal on washing machine. A bleach solution does however disinfect and so therefore eliminates any damp mildew smell from the seal. Use a solution of bleach and baking soda or vinegar baking soda and water. Grab a towel or rag and dip it in hot soapy water and scrub away.

Rinse the seal with a clean damp cloth to finish removing any last bits of grime. Wipe clean with a cloth or towel dipped in a solution of washing up liquid and water. You can also use non toxic bathroom cleaner to get rid of mold and mildew or take advantage of hydrogen peroxide as an excellent choice for mold removal too. Run the empty machine on 90 c cycles.

Add 1 cup of baking soda to the drum around the seal. However it is during the periods where the washing machine is not being used that mold begins to develop and which results in bad smells. Then add an additional cup of baking soda into the washing machine drum around the seal area. Dampen a clean cloth with water and wipe around the seal of the door to remove any loose dirt or debris.

Firstly mix together a homemade cleaning solution of 1 cup bleach and 1 cup baking soda and pour it into the detergent drawer. Wipe the seal dry with a clean dry cloth.
